I made my daughter a pair of sixth sense sox's from the knit along I joined. She loves them. I love knitting for her. She gets so excited when you're making something for her. It makes it all worth it. AND....the thing with making her something is that you cant put it away for a couple of months (like i'm so bad for doing). She's always asking where it is. Can you see a future knitter? I do! I thought I had a picture but cant seem to find it. I'll have to post one later when they are out of the wash.

Also, this weekend we got the end of our house sided. Its a start! And i love it!!

Look at what I got today!

SO...... I guess I've got some sock knitting to do! Hehehe. I found a couple of patterns that I think I'm going to try. One is from this site http://craftoholic.blogspot.com/2005/09/all-about-socks.html. I love the spiral look. I'm just waiting for the site owner to email me the pattern. I'll probably also do a couple more jaywalkers. As for the others.....I dont know. I guess as I see the patterns I'll decide.

I'm still working on the hourglass sweater. It's coming along. I'm on my last decrease section before I start the yolk. I finished hubby's wool socks. Went to take a picture of them and they were gone. I guess he was so excited he wore them to work the next morning. He said he loved them and they were probably the best fitting socks he's ever owned. AWWWWWWWWWWWWW. heheee. I dont know how anybody can say wool socks are comfy....i say they're ITCHY. The raw wool ones I mean. Not the nice soft wool. The next purchase I have to make is that book Socks Soar with Two Circular Needles. I guess I'm going to have to break down and get it. There's not a whole lotta help online with doing this method. And hey, it's not going to hurt having another knitting book around. :)

So I've started the Hourglass sweater. I've already frogged it and restarted. Duh, I cant count. hehehe. I'm also still working on the mr's second sock. uggg. Second socks suck. Even after 6 months from the first one. oops. I cant wait to learn how to do 2 at once. Should be interesting. Thats actually all the knitting I have on the go right now. I've got lots planned, but am keeping myself back from starting them.

So our renovations are still going on. Here's a shot of the bathroom so far.

We still need to rip out that sink and counter and put in a pedestal sink. And the place of course needs crackfill, window trim and cupboards behind the door. And paint. I have NO idea what to paint it. I think I'm the worst person in the world when it comes to choosing paint colors. I kinda want to bring the beach colors into it. But dont know how. The light and new medicine cabinet (which i LOVE - it is brushed chrome, oval and is a medicine cabinet!) are both brushed chrome and everything else white. SO....any ideas? I like dark wicker but would that look stupid? To many different textures? AGGGG!

Anyways, the rest of the windows are changed and the siding is off the house and the new insulation is on. Now we cant side the house till the weather gets warmer cause we still need to build on the front extension. SO my house will look a little different for a little bit, but i love it! Just changing the windows has made a world of difference.

And here's my BAD Bo. He is sooo full of mischief. Cracks me up. I feel like i have another toddler running around! Speaking of toddlers, my oldest is driving me crazy. She is soo bad. Wont eat anything i put in front of her and tests everything i say. Everyone says to have patience, but man...i'm starting to go crazy!! Shes only 2. How am I going to get through two terrible 2's in a row?

I finally finished my SIL's scarf. Its pretty much the same as the Irish Hiking Scarf but I made a couple of changes to the left cable and the middle cable. So I guess its not the same at all huh. :)

So the next thing I'm working on is a mini Clapotis. I'm using 3.75m needles and the Knitpicks Gossamer yarn. Hopefully it turns out alright.

Renovations have started here at the house. I love it all. Except the mess. Hate that! Anyways, the living room window has been changed and a garden door has been installed in the dining room replacing that UGLY window that was there. Today the guys ripped out the tub and shower and I'm hoping that tomorrow it'll be back in. Or nobody's going to want to come and visit us! :)

Told you I would finish them today! Here they are.

Pattern: Jaywalker Socks

Yarn: DGB Confetti superwash

Needles: Addi circ 2.5mm

I liked doing these. They were fun. If I was to make them for myself I would use the larger pattern. They are quite a snug fit. And I was happy with the way the yarn was striping until I got to the heel of sock #2. One of the colors were a bit longer than on sock 1 and it messed up the perfect matching between the two. Ah well...they still turned out great! Now if only I could have finished these last night for the contest deadline!! AAGG!

That's how I feel today. I didn't finish my Jaywalker socks. Yesterday was supposed to be the day. I was all set last night after I put the kids to bed. All that was left was the toe. Then my youngest who has 3 teeth coming in, got up screaming at 9pm and didn't stop till 11pm. No time for knitting there! And my hubby was working late last night, so it was all me. bwahhhhhhh!!!

I just wanted a chance to win STR yarn!! I've never won anything before!! :(

Ah well, at least today I can sit down and relax and finish them. No pressure. I am really impressed with yesterday too though. I knit from the heel to the toe in one day. That's a lot of knitting for me! I made such progress!

OK....enough of that. SO today is Valentines Day. Any special plans? We are going to go out for supper for the first time! We've been together for so long and its funny that we've never gone out to a nice fancy dinner! Crazy. Ah well, it's about time and we deserve it. I cant wait. My lovely sister has offered to babysit for a couple hours. She deserves something nice for that!

I just wanted to show you the new yarn I got from Knitpicks! 2 balls of sock yarn to make arm warmers and 2 skeins of some laceweight to make the Clapotis. I dont think that this yarn will make a very big clapotis, which is fine with me. I think one person said that they used this particular yarn to make theirs, but they double the yarn. I'm not doubling mine. I hope it turns out nice! And of course, I bought a sheep measuring tape. Hehehe. I would never spend that much on a measuring tape, but I thought that this guy was so cute!

Meet Bo. He's one of Jessie's pups. And he's staying :) How many people had bets going?? Will she keep one?? How crazy is she?? Like she needs another pet! WELL FOLKS.....I do need another pet! How could I not? He's soooo cute. And bad. Very bad. And spoiled already. heheee, but that's all good.

Guess what. I'm still on sock one. Is that sad or what? If this contest ends on Feb 14th, I'm in trouble. I better kick those turbo needles in gear! Dont you wish it was that easy? And I'm finding that they are quiet tight. But that's what I've been reading. That the type of pattern that it is doesnt' give the sock much stretch. But once they are on...comfy!

I'm getting pretty excited. I think we are going to take a drive out to Briggs and Little wool!! HOW EXCITING! I cant wait. Anybody know how long of a drive it is from Fredericton?

OK! The mistake was found on the sock. Only 4 rows back! Thank god!! Anyways, Now i'm about 3 inches into the foot. Has anybody with a size 7 foot made these? How far from the heel did you make the sock before you started the toe? These arent for me, thats why I'm asking. I just hope I dont get second sock syndrome and not finish these before the deadline. I would LOVE to win some of that sock yarn!! The chances of that though are slim to none since there's so many people in this knit along. Its fun though. Yay! Today was so exciting for me. My scarf exchange package came!! And it held more than a scarf! I'd post a picture but there's something wrong with blogger right now. Here's a description for now.

There is my scarf of course. Which is super long. LOVE IT. Then there is 3 balls of Merino wool (what ever will i make?), some Hello Kitty candy, apricot tea bags, milk tea, dried mango's and a card! I really didnt' expect all that. Thank you sooo soo much Erin. I think this little taste of mail happiness might have convinced me to enter the next Secret Pal. I got so excited when I opened up my mail box and seen the box!! Made my day. Thanks again Erin!!

Yay! I've been added to the Jaywalker along. I'm just past the heel and was doing great until I realized that my stitches are off. DAMN! I hate back knitting. H.A.T.E it. Even more when it's on itty bitty needles and I dont know where my mistake was! Ah well. I gave up last night around 11. I was so tired. Figured I'd give it another go when I'm more awake. Here's a picture of where I'm at now.

Hi! Guess what. I joined the Jaywalker sock knitalong. At least I hope I did. I'm kinda still waiting to hear if I'm in or not. But no waiting on the knitting!! Heres a picture of my progress so far. I like the pattern up to this point. Its coming out nicely with these strips!

The colors kinda remind me of those Halloween candies......I havent seen them since I was a kid, but that's what this sock reminds me of. Which is a bad thing because now I want some of those candies. They were tasty! Thats all for now!!

Ok. Here's the story. At the end of it, I'm going to need your help.

I had to go to the local thrift store to buy drop sheets for my puppies. No prob! Cause they are sooo cute. When I was looking through the bins, I can across these 2 little balls of yarn. Pretty color..purple.......60% wool/40% silk. There's only 125 yrds each.....not much. But for .25c each you cant say no!

Then I came across this. And I took it.

It's a big honkin cone of something.....its green (a nice green) and I have no idea what fiber it is. I have no idea why I bought it. It was $4.00.

Can somebody PLEASE give me some ideas on what to make with this!! It's about the weight of sock yarn i guess. That would make a freaking lot of socks. And I'm not going to make that many socks. That would be crazy. It would make me crazy. Oh my god. I dont know. Maybe a shawl? Of some sort?? I need help.

There was another one of these cones there and it was in hot pink! That would have been hard to explain to the mr. hehehee.

Anyways, appreciate any suggestions!!

This year we will be doing renovations to our house. By "we" i mean "he". Our house is 29 yrs old and needs so much work. We knew this when we bought it. Mike is a really good handyman and the price was right, so we couldn't turn it down. Plus.....we kinda liked it! This weekend we had walls put up. Yes...walls. There was a half wall in the living room that had the basement stairs behind it...real safe for kids. Ya. So we made it into a full wall. And then, the wall from the living room to the diningroom had a big "hole" in it. I dont know what the purpose of this was. Maybe the previous owners thought that it made the place look bigger or something. Me..i thought it looked ugly. So....its' filled in to. And what a difference!! It looks great!

There still some more crackfilling to do and then painting. In the sping we will be changing windows, putting on new siding, a new chimney and a front and back deck with a mudroom off the front. I can wait. It's going to be awesome. We also have to dig up around the basement and find all the cracks that flood it and fix them. LOTS OF WORK. But so worth it!

Ok....knitting news. I've almost got my scarf exchange scarf done. I'm just toying over how long it should be. I like it as is but mike says "a scarf has to be really long". Hmmp. So i'm still knitting. I think i'll do another 10 sets and then block it. I've never blocked before. Any secrets I should know about??

After this project I need to finish my sil's scarf and mitts. She knows they're coming too. So i cant put them off. I'd like to finish off all of my little projects that I've got laying around this year. You know.....one sock here, one mitt there. And I also want to do a craft show this fall so I've got to get started on that now!! I think I'm going to make those jaywalker socks too. Mary maxim has this sock yarn that i'm liking too. It's called Regia Canadian Fashion Sock Yarn. It's not bad.

Anyways, thats it for now. Oh ya......the pups are doing great. SOOOO CUTE!!:)

The pups are walking around today and they also opened up their eyes the other day. Boys oh boys, they are cute!!

I have started my scarf for the scarf exchange. The one that I had originally wanted to do didnt' work out. I didnt' like the yarn...to itchy. So then I tried it in another yarn, and I just didn't like it either!! So now i'm trying an all together new pattern with different yarn. It seems to be coming along nicely. I have a hard time knitting for other people. I want the item to be perfect and I am never happy with what I make. Everyone tells me that it is great, nice, beautiful......i'm way to picky about my work! Ah well, i'm iffy about the current scarf...but I think it'll be ok. I hope. Cause i'm running out of options!! :)

Just a quick post to wish everybody a happy Christmas!! My house is all ready for Santa to come. Cassidy is so into "HOHO" this year and I dont know how! I havent really told her about Santa very much..just that he brings special gifts to everybody on Christmas eve, we're going to leave him some cookies.....the usual. And she loves him. If she see's him on tv she goes all crazy. I love it though. It's so cute and innocent.....brings back the magic of it all. It's great. And this year we have 10 puppies to share it with too!! How great is that???

On the knitting front. Ok.......I started making a new pair of mitts for my sil. She was so upset about having her other ones taken that I couldnt' resist. And I received my yarn for the scarf exchange. I now need to know what pattern i'm going to use and which yarn i'm going to use. Decisions decisions!!! AAGG! I cant say to much about it here because I have no idea if the person I am making for reads my blog or not. If she does "HI!!!" heheee.

Puppies

Here they are. There's only 10 now. We had a little guy die last night. The rest seem to be doing great though. Doubled their size already. If you can make them out in the big clump you'll see how CUTE they are!!! I love it when they get their little tails wagging. It's the best!!! If anybody around my area is interested in them, send me an email and i'll give you the details. I cant tell how many choc's there are yet. They are all still so dark. And there are 6 girls and 4 boys.

My dog Jessie had her puppies last night! She has 11!!! HOLY MOMMA!!! She went into labour early early morning on Thursday (prob just after midnight) and she never had her first pup until 9pm last night. That's a long haul. Her last pup was born at 4:30am this morning. They seem to all be doing good. There was 1 stillborn, and it was so sad. We tried so hard to get it to come around. I was hoping that they would all be healthy too. But Jessie is taking good care of the one's she has. They are sooooooooooooo cute!! I'll post pics later!!

Hey! Like the new blog?? I was soooo scared switching it over cause I was afraid of loosing everything in the side bar. I wish there were more pages to choose from too! Anyways, a new look for the upcoming new year.
So, I finished the second mitt to match the "my so called scarf" set. I should be finished the MIL's slippers tonight and started another pair tomorrow.
My bf's sister called me in tears the other night. She was at the Regent Mall having a coffee and got up to leave. Made it to the doors and realized that she left her mittens on the table. She ran back to the table and the mitts were gone. Now the reason why she was so upset was because these were the felted mittens I made her for Christmas last year. She wasnt' even away from the table for 2 minutes. I hope that the person who took them REALLY needed them. She stood there looking and trying to see if anybody around her table had them...but nobody handed them over. So, I told her that I would make her another pair after Christmas...NO PROB!! Except these one's will have a dummy string lol!
OH GUESS WHAT!!! I joined a scarf exchange! I'm so excited because it's my first exchange. My scarf is coming from Erin (HI Erin!) in Taiwan!!! How cool is that? I think I may join other exchanges down the road. Its a fun way to meet people and it's always funner making something for somebody else. I know this because I still haven't knit myself anything! HOLY! But....after Christmas I think I'm going to tackle the Klaralund. It's soooo pretty. I'll save up my pennies for the yarn. Anybody know where I can get that stuff from?

Rememer "Finding Nemo" when Dory sang "just keep swimming, swimming, swimming"? Well I sing my own version of that song when I'm in hign knit mode. Hehee.
Well I just wanted to show a couple of FO. First is a hat and scarf set I did for a silent auction at the hospital where my sister works. They are trying to raise some money to help a co-worker of hers that is quiet sick with some sort of cancer. I hope it will make some little girl happy!

And next is a gift for one of my sisters. It's the "my so called scarf" and a pair of mitts to match. I like the look of the scarf, but man....make a mistake while your knitting it and your screwed!!!

This is my list to do before christmas:

- Slippers for MIL

- Slippers for step dad

- Cabled Scarf for SIL

- Washcloths (weekend knitting) x3

I know that there's other things, but they are out of my mind right now. Jessie is getting sooooo big and uncomfortable. She's only got 2 1/2 weeks left till the pups are due. I wonder if dogs can go early? hmmm...something to look into.

I cant believe its been so long since my last blog! I'll tell ya, I've been so busy getting Christmas gifts done. There's only a month left! AARGG! I don't know if I can do it. This is a problem of mine. Every year I take on so much. If I started in January it wouldn't be so bad!! Maybe next year.

Jessie (my dog) is doing good. She is due with her pups a week before Christmas. She's a black lab and I had her bred with a choc lab. I cant wait till they are born! SOOOOOO CUTE. Anyways, if anybody around my neck of the woods is looking for pups, let me know and I'll give you some more information on the prices and stuff.

Other than that things are the same ol same ol. I'd like to send out a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS!! She's one of dearest friends. I wish I could be with her today so we could go for some Dim Sum!! MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

And here's something to get you in the mood for Christmas! SNOW!! We've got snow! I love it. Its such a nice change from the ugly browns. I love snow. BRING IT ON!

Hehehee. I say that cause I'm not the one shoveling it either. So the Mr might not like my enthusiasm so much.

I got my first christmas present yesterday. And it's KILLING me not to rip it open and look through the patterns. The BF made me put it away for wrapping and said that it's going under the tree! See...when I bought this my plan was not to have it put under the tree for christmas but in my hands for my viewing pleasure. Wow....did that ever come back and get me. He' s really sticking to the christmas thing. What a bum!!

This is the Irish hiking scarf that I'm working on. I really like this pattern. Its quiet easy to follow and with the right yarn, turns out really nice. I'm also going to make a hat to match.

And remember the cascading leaves socks that I was working on? Ya, well there's not much progress on them. Here's a picture though. I messed up on the last row I think and now I don't even want to look at it for a while. I'm going to have to rip it back a couple rows so that I can figure out where I went wrong. Grr!!

Holy! Where have I been?? Well, I've been here. Just to busy to make a post. I dont have any pictures to show today....simply because what I've finished are all christmas gifts. I can tell you about the slippers I am making for my bf's mom. I finished one and the bf took it and said that he was going to hold it ransom until I finished his other sock!! Not nice!

I ordered a christmas gift for myself from Elann.com. Its the Pattern a day calendar. Looks good. Has anybody seen these before? Anyways, I just figured I'd save everyb0dy the work of looking for it (cant find it in NB) and just order it.

Something not knitting related......we had our dog breed last week. She's a pure black lab and her stud was a chocolate lab. Should be some nice pups out of the bunch. If she's pregnant, the pups will be due a week before Christmas. Could you imagine only being pregnant for 65 days?!! OH YA. No, we have to do the 10 month thing. Mind you, I couldnt' imagine having up to 14 kids at once!!

We got a new bird. It sings. It chirps. Loud. All the time. What the hell was I thinking?! Oh ya, he's cute and we dont have a bird yet. WHY NOT! Well, he is cute. And he does entertain us with his lovely singing. He sings something like "la cucarocha". I know that is way off the spelling. Doh! And he's got a nintendo voice too....boop, boop, boop, boop, booop....you get the picture right? Champ's his name. The cats LOVE him. It's like a new tv show for them, the fish were getting boring. Heres a pic.....

So, onto knitting news. I've been working on some socks....cascading leaves is the pattern. I love the color of the yarn for these socks. Perfect for fall. However, I dont think they will be done for fall! Oh well, perfect for all seasons i guess. I ordered the needle (turbo addi) from www..headwaterwool.com. The price was right and I got it in the mail in just a couple of days. So, go check them out!! They are out of Ontario.

I've also started on some christmas gifts. I'm behind this year. I've had a real problem thinking up something to make everybody. Last years theme was mitts. Big hit. Nice felted ones. I've got a couple of ideas for this year, but cant say yet!!

Remeber that kool aid yarn? Well, i decided to try out some felted slippers for myself. I think they will be ok, just not as thick as the pattern called for. I didnt' double the yarn. Heres a crappy picture of the yarn...

Now, i'm off to do some housework. How much fun can a girl have in one day!!!???

I finished a couple of projects this week. Here is a dishcloth...see the lighthouse? I got this pattern from Knittingpatterncentral.com. TONS OF PATTERNS!! I didnt' have a solid color to try the pattern with, but i'm still pleased with the way it turned out.

Then there is the Devil Hat from Stitch n Bitch. I made it for my 2 year old (suits her to a tee) however she did not want to model it for us today. So sitting in for her is her 8 mth old sister. Cute huh!

I finished that wool sock....now i'm onto #2. And I also made a felted slipper out of that kool aid dyed yarn. I'll get some pictures of them on later. Thats it for now!

I've realised 2 things today. One...I need a good digital camera. The web cam thing...sucks. Two.....I hate knitting socks! I mean, I LOVE knitted socks but I hate knitting them!! I dont know what it is about them that I hate. I get bored with doing one thing over and over....and when i finally get through the first sock - that's it! I need a break. This is supposed to be a pair of wool socks for my bf.....I just hope he gets the pair before christmas! I'll never live it down. I think i'm going to have to teach myself how to do the 2 socks at once on circs. I already know how to do the knitting on circs...what's it called? Tubular knitting? No...that's not it. Crap, when you use a really long needle instead of 4 dpn....know what i mean? Ok, if i can get that down how much harder could adding another needle be?? Ya right. Its definitly going to take some homework. Anyways, I got a good deal on Briggs n Little wool last week. The store in the little town by me had the hanks on for $3.25!! So my bf picked up 5 for me!! hehehe. I'm thinking of making the French market bag from Knitty. Speaking of market, I'm heading there again tomorrow morning. I think this time I'll pick up a hank of white wool and try this kool aid dying thats' the big craze! I'll post pictures if i can!

When I was at the market last Saturday, I seen these crochet hats for little girls that were soooooo cute. So when I got home, I started surfing around trying to find a pattern for them in knitting...and then crocheting....but could not find anything I liked. SO....I decided to wing it. Took a little bit of ideas from another pattern and this is what I got. Cute huh. Mind you....the baby modeling it TOTALLY makes the hat. Shes beautiful!! And she's all mine :)

Yesterday was my 29th birthday and I had a great day. I went into Fredericton with my sis in law (to be) and met up with my sister. We checked out the market (love the market) went to the local yarn store (got me some sock yarn!) and then went and got our nose's pierced!! OH YA! I wanted a blue stone for my birthday, but they were all out so I got pink instead. It looks awesome. I find that the pink blends in kinda so the piercing looks very sutle. Last night was spent at home with my kiddo's and company and having cake! mmmmmmm.

Does this even look like a rose??? Well, I've been trying my hand at crocheting again. I used to do it but found that it was boring. However, I dont mind doing these little fridge magnets. They take no time to whip up. My daughter keeps trying to smell it so I guess it looks like some kind of flower :)

Kitty Bed done! I made this using Bernat Lana Wool and just the regular eye lash for the top. I felted it a little to much. But I dont think that the little guy it's going to is going to complain! I made this for my sister's new kitten. I think my guys are a little jealous...but they are next in line to get one. A little bigger for them though!

I am sooooo lucky! My sister (who is the most thoughtful and sweetest out there) went to the lys yesterday to pick me up a needle to make the Kitty Pi Bed. Instead of just getting me the regular needle she came home with the best! My very first Addi Turbo!!!! I was sooooo excited!! I dont think she got my excitedness though. hehee. Anyways, after I came down off my high, I realized that I needed not only the circ but the dbl points in this size as well. Well, now's a good time as any to teach myself how to dbl point knit on circ's i though. There was an article in the "Take back the Knit" zine on it. It was ok, but I found that I still needed a little more info and maybe another picture on the topic to help me. I found a site that did the trick for me, and you know what? Matching nail polish to boot!

I've been trying to find a hanging towel pattern that I like for the longest time. This one was alright, but I had to make a few changes to the pattern. Actually, only one change. The neck was not nearly long enough for my liking so i changed that. Other than that I think it turned out ok. These are the hardest things to find patterns for believe it or not!! Everybody has towel toppers instead. I love these hanging on my stove though. Now I'm going to make up some matching dishcloths and I should be set. I was at Giant tiger on Friday night and picked up some wool. For those of you in Fredericton and area that happen to read my blog, Giant tiger is getting some eye lash yarn and some more wool blend yarn in this week. Aparently the prices are pretty good too. About $1 cheaper then the usual prices at walmart and zellers. SO.......head on over to Oromocto and shop away...just dont buy them all! Save some for little ol me. I'm going to make my kitties a felted bed. Thankfully "Aunt Lizzys" on Restigouch Road sells needles. Not the best on the market (hers are the plastic kind - yuck) but for somebody who NEVER gets to the city it'll just have to do. I seriously need to figure out how to post more than one picture at a time. Its very annoying having to do multiple posts just to show more pictures. Anybody know what i'm doing wrong?

Ok.....so i've got a birthday coming up. I know it's a month away (Sept 10), but my wheels have been turning. I've got wishes!! There's not much to report on the knitting front, so I thought that I would share a picture of my kitties. The big guy is Frankie (biggest sweety) and the little guy is Rusty. He's the coolest little kitten. Anyways, I've been working on a hat for somebody.....and that's about it!! Sad huh!! Lots of plans, but nothing actually started. I was at the store "Giant Tiger" last night and I almost lost my marbles!! They have Lion Brand yarn there for only $2.96/ball!!! Oh ya, after my yard sale on Saturday I'll be taking a little trip back to that store. Good yarn too...50%merino and 50%lana wool. I think I dreamed of the projects I could make last night! Oh my....i need to get out more I think!!

This poncho was so easy and quick to knit up. I love it. I used Bernat Cottontots in "sweet apricot". The yarn is soooooo soft. The pattern is from Domestic Affairs blog. It took one full 4oz ball. LOVE IT!!! This pattern would make nice gifts. My daughter however was not a very willing participant in trying it on. It took alot of bribing, pleading, begging...threatening..lol. I finally got it over her head and got a half decent picture.

Dishcloths and kitty toys

I am going to have a yard sale at the end of the month and thought that it would be fun to make it a craft/yard sale. Nothing fancy.....just some dishcloths and cat toys. But after making the kitty toys I'm not sure if I want to sell them!! Too cute! And my kitty's love them. I dont know if I'll even get as many dishcloths made as I wanted to either. What I'm really doing is trying to clean out my stash. Any odds here and there I thought would good to use up.....and hey, why not make a bit of cash from it all to buy new stash!!?? Sounded like a good plan at the time. It just gets boring making dishcloth after dishcloth.

So yesterday I bought out the sewing machine to finish up Poster boy. And yesterday the sewing machine had to get taken into town to get fixedl. What a time I had. I've only used the machine like 3 times since I got it at christmas. Since sewing through the wool was a bit difficult (thick) I was going to try to sew it with the "feed dogs" down. Those are the feet under the needle that moves the material through. Anyways.....didn't work. So I tried to put the dogs back up and they wouldn't lock into place. It was a sad moment calling Sears and making an appointment for it to get fixed. I just hope it doesn't take forever to get back. It always makes me nervous sending stuff out to get fixed. I'm always afraid its going to either not come back or come back worst off than when I sent it. Crazy thoughts huh.

So there will be no finished pictures of the Poster Boy bag this week. Maybe next!!

So I haven't been around a whole lot but that's not to say I haven't been busy!! My sister had requested for me to make her a Posterboy Bag. It is my first project using more than one color. SCARY!! Actually I'm glad I did it because I learned a lot. It was getting pretty scary nearing the end of strap #2, my yarn was winding away to nothing and I was certain that I would not have enough to finish. Let me tell ya, it was a close one!! Anyways, I'll work on putting this bad boy together and once I'm done I'll post another picture!

I finally had a chance to make a sophie bag for myself. I really like it! I was a little concerned about the straps though....not being strong enough, but I think it will be just fine. Now i need to find a cute change purse pattern to finish the package! Any suggestions from anybody??

So, I restarted the sock #2. I'm really procrastinating it too. But can you blame me?? I always read blogs where people are so happy doing socks. I'm not sure if I can share that same enjoyment. The needles are so small. It seems to take forever!! Maybe it's just been this past experience that has me down on the socks. I'll wait a few months after I'm done this pair and maybe try again. Onto other news, I found this Knit along group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/KnitAlong. It seems ok. Oh boy, my kids are going nuts. I have to cut this short.....post more later!

Squirrly Knits
So here I am......knitting away at my way over due sock......getting a little giddy because I knew I was almost done. I went and pulled out sock #1 to compare and realized that it looked a little different from almost completed sock #2. WAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH. I've been knitting the wrong pattern for sock #2!!! How could this happen?? Have I lost my mind? So then I sit here and talk myself into continuing to knit sock 2 ........cause who's going to notice right? WRONG. So.....I frogged the whole thing. I hated doing that. It was upsetting. Pissed me right off! And now I begin the boring task of ribbing for 2 1/2 inches.....ya. I could do it in my sleep.

Anyways, that's it for now. Just had to come and vent! I'll post pictures of the MATCHING socks when i'm done!

I'm still kicking!!!! Holy, its been forever since I made a post. Can you say that I've been busy?? The girls are both doing great....Caitlynn is growing like a bad weed! I cant believe she's 2 months already. AND..I've managed to get some knitting done too. Nothing to big though. I've done some dishcloths and I'm actually finishing my pair of socks. FINALLY! I want to make a Sophie bag for myself as well, but havent' had a chance to get to town to buy the right size needles!! Thats the problem with living in the country I guess! I should be able to do more postings now that things are starting to settle down around here!! And hopefully you'll start to see more completed knitting projects from me too!!

Please meet Caitlynn Elizabeth. She was born on Jannuary 27th at 2:31pm. And she was a quick and easy delivery!! Weight was 7lbs 6oz and she was 20 1/2 inches long. A perfect angel! I tried putting a post about her on Sunday, but for some reason Hello wasn't working......and I dont get all that many chances to come on the computer anymore!! My 15 1/2 month old is a handfull and still adjusting to Caitlynn....I'm sure its going to take some time before she actually accepts her. She's not doing too bad though. So here she is......I've already knit her an umbilical cord hat......cant wait to wear it out on her!! I'll post when I can!!

No baby yet!

For those of you who may be wondering....there's no baby yet. I'm getting a little anxious myself though. While I'm sitting here waiting, I've knit a Seamans' Hat for my bf's best friend. He loves it. I forgot to get a picture though! Now I'm going to finish a pair of combination mitts for my sister. After these I'm making myself a pair, but I'm going to try and felt them!! I'm so nervous and excited at the same time. I just hope that it works out. I used size 4mm needles for bf mitts and they are just a little big on me. I'm going to use a size 5mm for the ones for me and hopefully that will bring them down to the perfect size for me once I felt them. It's weird cause the pattern calls for 3.25mm needles for a man and that's the size that I'm using for my sisters little hands. I guess I'm a tight knitter or something. Anyways, I'm going to scoot for now. I'll try to make a post if I have to go to the hospital! Bye for now.

Here is my first pair of Combination Mitts that I made for my bf. He loves them. I just have to put the velcro on them. I'm actually quiet impressed with them myself! So warm and cozy!! I'm making another pair for my sister out of the same yarn and I'm going to make myself a blue pair. I'll probably pack that stuff in my hospital bag and start them there. Hmmmm......that is if I have time!! That's all for now folks!! Untill the next project.....TOODLES!!!

Christmas is here and gone

Hi all. Merry Christmas! I hope Santa was good to everybody. I got the best presents ever! I must have been really good this year. My BF got me a sewing machine! Look out! And I also got a lovely gliding rocker with ottaman. Awesome. Now I have somewhere comfy to sit and knit. Everybody loved there knitted gifts from me. The felted mittens were a big hit.....those who didnt' get the mitts and got slippers instead have informed me that now they want mitts! And I also have a request for some slippers! I dont know when I'm going to get it all done. I'm still very very pregnant and have no idea which day this baby is going to arrive. Until then though, i will continue to knit. Right now i'm working on a pair of combination mitts. They are really nice. I love them. And I still need to finish the thrum mitts! Oh no!! I've got to get the bf to rip some roving for me. I cant stand doing it myself and since they are for him, why not?! He should put some sweat into them too!! hehee.

Ok, so I know this is not knitting but I couldnt' resist showing it off. I finally finished my bf's cross stitched stocking! It took forever and theres along story behind it which I will not bore you all with. He loves it too. I used to love doing this craft but now I hate doing it. It takes so long! I do love the final results though. I'm sure I'll never give it up. I have WAY TO MANY unfinished projects to do that!!! Now I've got to start my stocking, Cassidy's and very very very soon I'll have another stocking to make!! AAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!! Will it ever end???????? :)

Another couple of gifts completed! I made the Umbilical Cord hat from SnB the other night. It is soooo cute. I love it. I hope that the little girl getting it likes it too!! I also completed another pair of felted mittens. They are so easy to do. The last pair I did I ended up sewing some design around the cuffs....just to take the plain-look away. They turned out awesome. I'm still trying to figure out what I can do to the grey ones to spruce them up a bit. I had fun doing the hat. It was my first time knitting on circular needles and it was my first time doing an I-cord. The only problem with the hat pattern was that I didnt' have a set of 5 DPN as the pattern called for....so I had to use a straight needle and then transfer the stiches back onto a DPN. Fun stuff. Oh well, it slowed me down a bit, but the hat still looks sooooooo cute!!!!

Now I'm knitting a pair of thrum mittens. I hope that these turn out. I haven't pulled the roving yet. I'm still a little unsure about what i'm supposed to do with this stuff. I'll figure it out though, i always do!! Oh ya, I knit the fire hat out of snb as well for the bf. He like it cause it fits good under his ski-doo helmet. Now his friends have requested that I make them all hats too!! AAAGGGGGGG!!!! So much knitting to do! I have to try and get as much in as I can this month, cause once January gets here, i'm going to be way to busy to knit. I've got a baby due in January and I have a 14 month old already. Ya.......when am i going to have time to knit???!!! I have a couple more pairs of felted mitts i need to make before christmas too. Busy busy! So that's all the knitting news for now. I gotta get back to the needles..........actually i'm thinking more like having a nap right now...zzzzzz :)

I also made a little trip to Singer last night and picked up some Briggs & Little wool and Roving to make those thrum mittens I was talking about. And I found a nice pattern for Convertibles (gloves with mitten flappy things). So all in all it turned out to be a good trip! And I was impressed by the prices there too. I only spent $20. Trust me though......I wanted to spend more......but baby steps! One project at a time.........

I felted for the first time! And it was not as bad as I thought! I was so scared that I would ruin my mitts and cell case. I felt like a watch dog at the washing machine! I ended up felting the cell case by hand. For some reason it was not doing what it should have been doing in the wash. And I stuck a phone into it for the night to help shape it. The mitts turned out really really well. I'm so pleased. I think I'm going to get some white yarn and sew in some snowflakes around the cuff though. Just to give them some more colour. Either way, somebody is really gonna like them for christmas..........along with the cell case. I cant say who they are for cause you never know who's reading your blog!!

Knitting time is running out!

There's not much knitting time left before Christmas. I'm starting to feel the pressure. My little hands cant knit any faster! I started a pair of felted mittens the other day. I'm half way through mitt #2 now. Hopefully they will be done and felted in another day or two. And I'm so excited! I found a place in Fredericton (closest city to me) that sells roving and different yarns!! YAY! I'm going to join that Thrum along and knit up some mitties! AND......I ordered the new Stitch n Bitch Nations book from my local book store. They say it could take up to a month to get in....*sigh*......i hate waiting. I'm such an impatient person when it comes to stuff like that. There's a parcel waiting for me to pick up today at the post office......I'm hoping it's the other knitting books that I ordered. I cant remember what they are called now.....but I'll be sure to let you know when I get them! There's not much more knitting updates to give you. I've never felted before, so I'm a little nervous that I'm going to ruin these mitts. If anybody has any pointers to give, it would be truly appreciated! Otherwise, wish me luck and I'll let you know how it goes. The mitts look so funny right now.......they are HUGE! I couldn't imagine having hands that big! hehehehee. I'll post a before and after picture as well.

OK, Cassidy is down for a nap....so i'm gonna go take a shower and get knitting while I have some quiet time!! Did I say she was napping...ya right. She's in her crib giggling to her teddy bear and singing. What a little monkey!

I finished the hat I was working on and it didn't take as long as I thought it would. The picture sucks.....my digital camera is a flop so I had to take the picture with my wecam.....not so good. Anyways, you get to sort of see what it looks like!! Now I'm on to my next project. I'm going to try and make felted mitts. My stepmom bought me a pair from Newfoundland a couple of years ago and I love them. If these turn out they will make a really nice gift for somebody!!!

Well I started making a hat for my fiance's godson for christmas. It's from a book my stepmom gave me full of hats and scarves from the 70's!! The pattern is really nice though. The ear flaps are made out of seed stitch (never heard of that before) and the top has got something like a cable stitch, but without using the cable needle. And the hat is coming out nice and thick too. I think it's going to be perfect for a 2 year old playing out in the snow!!

Here is my very first knitted sock! I'm sooooooo proud of it. It took me about a week to do.....working on it here and there. Now I've got one really happy foot and one really sad foot! I've got to get back to the needles and start sock #2.

Well, I had to start my blog all over. I dont know what I had on the go.......but the confussion was just to stressfull. I'm hoping that things will start to make sense for me now. Like I had said with the first blog.....stick with me!! I'll get it all figured out eventually.
